Transitioning Into Vegetarianism

I'm not sure if becoming a Vegetarian is something that will be permanent as I do eat meat sometimes. But it's far less than it's been in a in while...

A lot of people assume that Ayurveda forbids eating meat. On the contrary, eating meat may be necessary for certain people who's biological constitution thrives on it.

When I was visiting Sweden, I noticed that meat and bread and cheese were foods that were eaten regularly...especially by my nephew and then Brother in law who are from that region of the world. It made sense to me seeing that the climate is very cold!

As for me, I naturally am inclined to eat vegetables and very little meat. Growing up, my family would ask me often if I was vegetarian because I only ate the vegetables offered and neglected the main course-the meat! Honestly, I did not like chicken very much as a child because I always felt weird after eating it.

It made sense to me later on as an adult what that weird feeling was. Hormones!

Since birthing two children, I have suffered with Diastasis Recti and after 5 years of giving my body to my daughters, I feel that it is time to regenerate and restore. I believe this involves first uprooting toxic sludge that has taken resident in the gut.

More on that later.

One of the easiest meals I make for myself and my family consists of bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, fresh spinach, and spices. See below.

I've traded butter for Olive Oil in my cooking. The spices that I love using are salt, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. I also have been sprinkling flax seeds and chia seeds for that extra crunch.

In between meals, I snack on baked carrots, fresh avocados, spinach salads, chips and fresh salsa, and different kinds of nuts. Surprisingly, I feel full and satisfied without the bloat.

When I am craving carbs and some meat, I usually buy these frozen Pot Stickers from Walmart which are delicous!

The results so far are I am 10 pounds lighter, I have more energy, my skin is radiant, and I feel an overall wellness in my body and mind. I also do not feel like a food addict like I did before! I felt like I NEEDED salty fries and fried stuff. Now, I literally have no such desire.

More on transitioning into vegetarianism to come. Until next time...Meditate.
